Entry-Level Health Care Classes Are Top Revenue for Century College
Century College’s entry-level health care classes last year brought in the most revenue of all the programs in the college’s Continuing Education/Customized Training division. Entry-level health classes include instruction in areas such as nursing assisting/home health aide, phlebotomy (blood work), trained medication aide, health unit coordinator and medical coding and billing.
The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership Program awarded over $2 million in grants
The program, supported by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, awarded 11 grants that will provide workplace training for over 2,300 workers statewide, the agency said in a press release.

Century College CE/CT Awarded $2.98 Million Contract For State Training Systems
Century College’s Continuing Education and Customized Training Division (CECT) has been awarded a $2.98 million contract from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to provide a broad spectrum of child welfare training and technical assistance to county and tribal social workers throughout the state. This is the largest training contract the college has ever received.
Business and Entrepreneurship Institute Influences Campus-Wide Training at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC)
The campus based Small Business Development Center has served as an effective recruitment tool in addition to providing needed support services. Community residents who access the center for assistance with business development recognize that the entrepreneur program can help them meet their business goals and register for training. DCTC students pursuing more traditional training routinely access the center also. About ten percent of students are four-year college graduates seeking to gain additional applied learning experience.
DEED Grant will Fund Open-Source Software Training
A new grant from the Department of Employment and Economic Development Minnesota Job Skills Partnership will be used by several Minnesota businesses to train employees.
Century College Chosen for National Plus 50 Initiative
Century College was selected as on of 15 colleges nationwide that will participate in the three-year initiative, which will develop and benchmark models for innovative programs serving students over age 50. Century will be on of five mentor colleges in this initiative.

MarketWatch names Twin Cities Best for Business
DEED commends MarketWatch for recognizing the Twin Cities as the best metro area in the country for business for the second year in a row. MarketWatch cited Minneapolis Saint Paul for large and small business strength, population, and job growth. The MarketWatch survey also notes that the Twin Cities boasts relatively low unemployment compared with the nation’s largest metro areas.
